From Pastor Josh
Bellefield is a special place, and it’s my real joy to serve the Lord here as the pastor of this unique community. If you’d like to learn more about who we are as a congregation, what we believe, and how we seek to live as those who have been transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ, then take some time to look around on our website and, of course, please join us for worship and fellowship.
I’ll just offer two Scripture verses that concisely summarize how the staff and I try to lead here at Bellefield. The first comes from the book of Colossians: “Whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him” (3:17). We desire to know Jesus Christ as Lord in all things and to give thanks to God the Father through him at all times. We desire to live as followers of Jesus in everything we do, awed by the fact that we can glorify God in all areas of life. No matter our vocation or station in life, what we do matters, because we can bear witness to the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ and his reconciling work in all things.
The second relates to that. In one of Paul’s letter to Timothy, he says, “Watch your life and doctrine closely” (1 Timothy 4:16). Life and doctrine; teaching and action. We don’t pit these things against one another, but value and uphold them both. Biblically sound and faithful teaching is important, which is why we gather together to study, preach, and teach the Word of God. This teaching, however, must inform and transform our lives, which is why we work to foster community, serve and care for one another, and demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ to all. It is important to be able to clearly articulate our faith, and it is important to consistently live out those beliefs.
It’s an exciting yet challenging thing to worship and serve the Lord faithfully together as his people. That’s what we seek to do here at Bellefield, and we’d love to have you join us!
